Welcome to Brigg, a superb specialist shopping centre set in the beautiful rolling Wold countryside of northern Lincolnshire.
Over the centuries, the town has grown as a natural centre for rural North Lincolnshire and this has made for a colourful history which chronicles markets, music festivals and agricultural fairs.
Today, it is a thriving commercial centre with a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere. As well as serving the inhabitants of the immediate area, the town is also very popular with visitors from further afield who come to enjoy shopping in a picturesque riverside location.
Shops
With around 150 shops centred mainly on the pedestrianised area, the town is certainly an enticing prospect for shopaholics. Rather than the familiar, major names seen in almost every large town and city throughout the country, the majority of shops in Brigg are operated by independent retailers offering a different selection of merchandise to that found elsewhere. With such an array of specialist shops and retailers committed to friendly and unhurried personal service, you're more than likely to come across that special something that you'll not find anywhere else. All the major banks are represented in the town so getting your hands on the cash for that extra something should not be a problem.
Markets
To complement the shops, Thursday sees Brigg's historic market take over the town centre, with 100 stalls spilling out of the Market Place and up Wrawby Street. For great buys in the food, clothing and hardware lines, a visit to Brigg Market is a must. On Saturdays, a smaller market totalling about 20 stalls is held. Thursday is also the day when people flock to the town to visit Stennets Market, a true Brigg tradition. This long-established market is as popular today as it ever was and is able to supply you with anything from a rabbit to garden produce. A Farmers Market runs frequently, for more information please see our Farmers Market page.
Food and Drink
If you need refreshment to help you on your way during your shopping trip, Brigg's eating establishments are sure to please. For a cup of deliciously smooth ground coffee, why not call into one of the town's excellent coffee shops? Or for a tasty, wholesome meal, why not dine out at one of the the town's splendid inns or restaurants where you will be able to choose from a selection of mouth watering cuisines? Or if time is pressing you why not take advantage of one of the conveniently-located takeaway food outlets, where you can buy anything from a salad-filled, crusty baguette to a portion of succulent fish and chips?
